Are you interested in publishing important multi-disciplinary research on hospital operations and the business of healthcare using data from a world-class health system?
The MESH Incubator, Innovation in Operations Research Center (MESH IO) at Mass General Brigham is looking for enthusiastic medical students interested in publishing research (including first author papers) in this area. Subject topics include factors influencing length of stay, healthcare utilization, COVID-19 and exam volume, reimbursement, procedural volume, patient workflow, and much more. MESH IO is run by the MESH Incubator, the first integrated technology incubator in a hospital (est 2016). As part of this role, you will be carrying out data analysis and manuscript writing with mentorship from Harvard faculty senior authors. In many cases co-authors will include senior hospital leadership/executives, faculty, and trainees.
Over the past 10 months, the lab has published 15 papers across the above disciplines and had 6 papers accepted for international oral presentations (all with med student first authors/presenters).
Eligibility:
-Ability to dedicate 3-4 hours per week to research, including check-in meetings monthly or EOW depending on the paper
-Strength + experience in statistics, including SPSS or other similar programs
-prior publication track record is a plus but not necessary
